Oh My Darling, Clementine &

Oh My Darling, Clementine is an American western folk ballad usually credited to Percy Montrose (1884), even though it's sometimes referred to Barker Bradford. The song is believed to have been based on another song called Down by the River Liv'd a Maiden by H. S. Thompson (1863).
The words are those of a bereaved lover singing about his darling, the daughter of a miner in the 1849 California Gold Rush. He loses her in a drowning accident, though he consoles himself towards the end of the song with Clementine's "little sister".
The verse about the little sister was often left out of folk song books intended for children, presumably because it seemed morally questionable.
Gerald Brenan attributes the melody to originally being an old Spanish ballad in his book South from Granada. It was made popular by Mexican miners during the Gold Rush. It was also given various English texts. No particular source is cited to verify that the song he used to hear in the 1920s in a remote Spanish village was not an old text with new music, but Brenan states in his preface that all facts mentioned in the book have been checked reasonably well.
Forty-niners
The first people to rush to the gold fields, beginning in the spring of 1848, were the residents of California themselves—primarily agriculturally oriented Americans and Europeans living in Northern California, along with Native Americans and some Californios (Spanish-speaking Californians).[30] These first miners tended to be families in which everyone helped in the effort. Women and children of all races were often found panning next to the men. Some enterprising families set up boarding houses to accommodate the influx of men; in such cases, the women often brought in steady income while their husbands searched for gold.
In a cavern in a canyon excavatin' for a mine
Dwelt a miner fortyniner and his daughter Clementine
Oh my darling oh my darling oh my darling Clementine
You are lost and gone forever dreadful sorry Clementine
Soft she was and like a fairy and her shoes were number nine
Herring boxes without topses were the shoes for Clementine
Oh my darling oh my darling oh my darling Clementine
You are lost and gone forever dreadful sorry Clementine
She drove ducklings to the water every morning just at nine
Hit her foot against a splinter fell into the foaming brine
Oh my darling oh my darling oh my darling Clementine
You are lost and gone forever dreadful sorry Clementine
Ruby lips above the water blowing bubbles soft and fine
Alas for me he was no swimmer so he lost his Clementine
Oh my darling oh my darling oh my darling Clementine
You are lost and gone forever dreadful sorry Clementine

God's Fool -Story
Once there came from the desert to the great city of Sharia a man who was a dreamer, and he had naught but his garment and staff. And as he walked through the streets he gazed with awe and wonder at the temples and towers and palaces, for the city of Sharia was of surpassing beauty. And he spoke often to the passers-by, questioning them about their city—but they understood not his language, nor he their language.
At the noon hour he stopped before a vast inn. It was built of yellow marble, and people were going in and coming out unhindered. “This must be a shrine,” he said to himself, and he too went in. But what was his surprise to find himself in a hall of great splendour and a large company of men and women seated about many tables. They were eating and drinking and listening to the musicians. ‘Nay,’ said
the dreamer, ‘This is no worshipping. It must be a feast given by the prince to the people, in celebration of a great event.’
At that moment a man, whom he took to be the slave of the prince, approached him, and bade him be seated. And he was served with meat and wine and most excellent sweets.
When he was satisfied, the dreamer rose to depart. At the door he was stopped by a large man magnificently arrayed.
‘Surely this is the prince himself,’ said the dreamer in his heart, and he bowed to him and thanked him.
Then the large man said in the language of the city: ‘Sir, you have not paid for your dinner.’
And the dreamer did not understand, and again thanked him heartily.
Then the large man bethought him, and he looked more closely upon the dreamer. And he saw that he was a stranger, clad in but a poor garment, and that indeed he had not wherewith to pay for his meal. Then the large man clapped his hands and called—and there came four watchmen of the city. And they listened to the large man.
Then they took the dreamer between them, and they were two on each side of him. And the dreamer noted the ceremoniousness of their dress and of their manner and he looked upon them with delight. ‘These,’ said he, ‘are men of distinction.’
And they walked all together until they came to the House of Judgement and they entered.
The dreamer saw before him, seated upon a throne, a venerable man with flowing beard, robed majestically. And he thought he was the king. And he rejoiced to be brought before him.
Now the watchmen related to the judge, who was the venerable man, the charge against the dreamer, and the judge appointed two advocates, one to present the charge and the other to defend the stranger. And the advocates rose, the one after the other, and delivered each his argument. And the dreamer thought himself to be listening to addresses of welcome, and his heart filled with gratitude to the king and the prince for all that was done for him.
Then sentence was passed upon the dreamer, that upon a tablet about his neck his crime should be written, and that he should ride through the city on a naked horse, with a trumpeter and a drummer before him. And the sentence was carried out forthwith.
Now as the dreamer rode through the city upon the naked horse, with the trumpeter and the drummer before him, the inhabitants of the city came running forth at the sound of the noise, and when they saw him they laughed one and all, and the children ran after him in companies from street to street. And the dreamer's heart was filled with ecstasy, and his eyes shone upon them. For to him the tablet was a sign of the king's blessing and the procession was in his honour.
Now as he rode, he saw among the crowd a man who was from the desert like himself and his heart swelled with joy, and he cried out to him with a shout:
‘Friend! Friend! Where are we? What city of the heart's desire is this? What race of lavish hosts, who feast the chance guest in their palaces, whose princes companion him, whose kings hangs a token upon his breast and opens to him the hospitality of a city descended from heaven?’
And he who was also of the desert replied not. He only smiled and slightly shook his head.
And the procession passed on. And the dreamer's face was uplifted and his eyes were
overflowing with light.

My mum is amazing
She wakes up early in the morning with a smile
And she holds my head up high
Don't you ever let anybody put you down
Cos you are my little angel
Then she makes something warm for me to drink
Cos it's cold out there, she thinks
Then she walks me to school, Yes I aint no fool
I just think my Mom is amazing
BRIDGE/CHORUS
She makes me feel
Like I can do anything
and when she's with me
there's no where else, I'd rather be…
After School, she's waiting by the gate
I'm so happy that I just can't wait
To get home to tell her how my day went
And eat the yummy food, only my Mom makes
Then I wind her up cos I don't wanna bath
And we run around the house with a laugh
No matter what I say, she gets her way
I think my Mom is amazing
BRIDGE/CHORUS
Then I wake up in the morning, she's not there
And I realize she never was
And I'm still here in this lonely orphanage
With so many just like me
And as my dreams begin to fade
I try hard to look forward to my day
But there's a pain in my heart that's a craving
How I wish I had a Mom that's amazing
Would be amazing

U-Turn
GIVEUP REVENGE TO SERVE POOR..
Constable Ittiyaveera died from the bullets of Dhanashekaran, leaving behind his wife and three children. It was the first incident in Kerala police station where a policeman was shot by the culprit. “ I will kill Dhanashekaran” was the only diary note of victim’s son. Today the son is not Zakharia but Fr. Zakharia. He demonstrated the path of goodness to the world instead of the unholy path of revenge.
The life of Fr. Zakharia Therambil, the vicar of Mar. Gregorios Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Thiruvanchiyoor, has turned to spirituality after having gone through the path of communist ideology and the thoughts of revenge. As a teenager and later as an young man his mind was full of communism and theories of Evolutions. The thoughts of revenge to kill his fathers murderer followed. Soon Zakharias visualized the crucified figure of the Christ, the most merciful lord, enlightened Zakhria’s mind.
Reckless Teenage
Zakharia, the youngest son of Ittiyaveera and Thankamma wasn’t a believer to start with. Ittiyaveera, a head constable, was a man of principles and was against bribery and dishonesty. Zakharia was taken to communism in his schooldays. Later he joined St.Marys college, Manarkad. For the pre-degree course. He was forced to leave the college due to his rebellious attitude. Zakharia says that it happened as a result of misunderstanding by the college authorities. His father didn’t persuade his son to apologise and go back to college. He continued his education privately.
The Day Life Changed.
Zakharia was at his home when he heard that his father was shot, on 8 January 1989.
Dhanashekaren shot Ittiyaveera four times and one bullet hit his forehead. While he was doing body-check to pull out the fake currency notes. Ittiyaveera died at Kottayam medical college after a six hour long surgery at 11 pm, leaving behind his innocent wife and school going children. It was the first incident of shooting a police man in Kerala police station. The incident has shocked Zakharia.

Today fr. Zakharia laughs while reading his diary note, “I will kill Dhanashekaran”.
It was his intention to find and kill him who escaped jail soon after the arrest.
It was his intention to find and kill him who escaped jail soon after the arrest.
A lot of well wishers came forward to help the family, that shattered mentally and financially. The colleagues of Ittiyaveera- V R Rajeevan [S.P], ASP Sreelekha, Alphonse Kannanthanam [ District collector], sympathetically helped the family of their respectable and principle minded Ittiyaveera. Still the thoughts of revenge didn’t subside in Zakharia’s mind. While at the Baselios college his mind gradually changed. Zacharia believes that it was by the intervention of God. It started during a short stay on the street, on his way back home fro college. He listened to Rev. Fr. Mathew Naickamparambil who was conducting a camp at Nagambalam, sponsored by Muringoor retreat centre. It was incredible to believe the change of Zakharia towards spirituality that he refused to accept before.
The condition of his family worsened because of the falling rubber prices and difficulty in paying home loan. By God’s grace his elder brother Kurian managed to secure a job in village office soon relieving the family burden. Zakharia doesn’t remember the time he thought of priesthood. Anxiety and difficulty in decsision making followed regarding future course in life. By this time he completed his degree at the university. He wrote a long letter describing the situation to Prof. of Economics- P C Elias. It was the reply of this letter that initiated Zakharia to become Fr. Zakharia. The reply said “I expect my students of the batch will reach great heights. Zakharia is one among them. I pray that you become a priest showering the light of divinity to many”.
With The Poor And Needy
Zakharia started visiting the patients of medical college Kottayam after joining the Navajeevan trust. He continued his sympathy and compassion to them after becoming the priest as well. His vicariate started at the St. George church at Valayadi in the high range. He reached there at a time when the factories where closed and people were jobless and starving. He started collection of food from Kottayam and distributing to them.
It was liquor addiction of the villagers that made him to start a retreat centre there. He could liberate many from alchoholism and drugs. In 2003 he reached Thoothutty Mar Gregorios church. He started a retreat centre here also. Selecting a hundred poverty striken family in the area he arranged to provide three kilogram rice every week to them. It was his brain behind the construction of ten houses to the homeless in this area.
His compassion and sympathy to the sick made him to join Pain and Palliative Care Unit. Centered at the church, 25 volunteers and over hundred patients seek advice and treatment. He drove for the first time an ambulance to Kottayam medical college and saved the life of person who met with accident at Thoothutty. Fr. Zakhariah, opting celibacy, destined to serve the poor until death. Like Pope John Paul II he too has no personal bank account.

Easy and Difficult
Easy is to get a place in someone's address book
Difficult is to get a place in someone's heart
Easy is to judge the mistakes of someone
Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes
Easy is to talk without thinking
Difficult is to refrain the tongue
Easy is to hurt someone who loves us
Difficult is to heal the wound...
Easy is to forgive others
Difficult is to ask for forgiveness
Easy is to set rules
Difficult is to follow them...
Easy is to dream every night
Difficult is to fight for a dream.....
Easy is to show victory
Difficult is to assume defeat with dignity...
Easy is to admire a full moon
Difficult to see the other side....
Easy is to stumble with a stone
Difficult is to get up...
Easy is to enjoy life every day.
Difficult is to give its real value..
Easy is to promise something to someone
Difficult is to fulfill that promise...
Easy is to say we love
Difficult is to show it every day...
Easy is to criticize others
Difficult is to improve oneself...
Easy is to make mistakes
Difficult is to learn from them...
Easy is to weep for a lost love
Difficult is to take care of it so you wont lose it.

One interesting E-mail.
History Mystery
Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House..
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head
Now it gets really weird.
Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln .
Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born
in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
Now hang on to your seat.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford'.
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln ' made by 'Ford'.
Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
And here's the kicker...
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
WHO FIGURED THIS OUT?
INCREDIBLE
1) Fold a NEW $20 bill in half..
2) Fold again, taking care to fold it exactly as below
3) Fold the other end, exactly as before
4) Now, simply turn it over...
What a coincidence! A simple geometric fold creates a catastrophic premonition printed on all $20 bills!!!
COINCIDENCE?
YOU DECIDE
As if that wasn't enough...
Here is what you've seen...
Firstly The Pentagon on fire...
Then The Twin Towers.
...And now ... look at this!
TRIPLE COINCIDENCE ON A SIMPLE $20 BILL
Disaster (Pentagon)
Disaster ( Twin Towers )
Disaster ???
It gets even better 9 + 11 = $20!
(N.B: I have no idea of the origin of this information. I got one email from one of my friends and find it interesting. I request you to check the authenticity of these informations.)
